Why the HEUG Community Matters: Your Independent Voice

Written by: Brittany Moon, HEUG Executive Director

In a world full of vendor messaging, it can be hard to find out what is really happening inside the technology that drives our organizations. While vendor events showcase polished roadmaps, HEUG is where practitioners share what really works across platforms. We are an independent voice. The HEUG community is where you can hear real stories, not curated marketing but honest accounts from people who have been in the trenches, solved problems, and found ways forward.

More Than Just PeopleSoft

Our roots may be in PeopleSoft, but our community has grown far beyond that. HEUG supports you no matter which platform you are on, Oracle, Workday, Ellucian, or others. Technology is always evolving, and HEUG evolves with it. What does not change is our mission: to connect members across the globe with the knowledge, support, and collaboration they need to succeed.

Support and Learning That Lasts

HEUG is more than a forum. More than a webinar. More than an event. It is a living network of peers who troubleshoot with you, share what worked and what did not, and open doors to new ways of thinking. Its value lies in authenticity, members helping members, no sales pitch, just real solutions.

As Buddy Combs from Kentucky Community and Technical College System explains:

Learning flows through discussions, webinars, and local events every day, but it also builds toward something bigger.

Alliance in Orlando: The Highlight of the Year

The HEUG community thrives year-round, but nothing compares to Alliance. Each year, more than 2,000 attendees representing over 350 schools gather for the ultimate opportunity to learn, connect, and innovate.

In 2026, we hope you will join us in Orlando, Florida for Alliance. It is the place where conversations turn into breakthroughs and where the spirit of community shines brightly. You will leave inspired, equipped, and connected to colleagues around the world who understand your challenges and are eager to share solutions.

Share Your Story: Call for Proposals

What makes Alliance powerful is that it is built by the community, for the community. The Call for Proposals is now open, and this is your chance to contribute. Whether you have streamlined a process, tackled a tough challenge, or discovered new ways to deliver value, your peers want to learn from you.

Your story can inspire others, spark ideas, and shape the future of our organizations. The deadline to submit your proposal is this Friday. By submitting, you help ensure Alliance remains the authentic, user driven event that sets HEUG apart.

A Global Community : Regionals in ANZ , Asia, and Europe

Our strength comes not just from one gathering, but from our presence worldwide. HEUG hosts international regionals in Australia New Zealand, Asia, and Europe, welcoming more than 1,000 attendees each year. These events create opportunities for members to connect closer to home while still being part of a global network.

Maggie Maseka recently retired from the University of the Witwatersrand describes it best:

There is still time to secure your ticket for the 2025 international events, and early bird registration is available now. Be part of the only events built by higher education, for higher education.
