San Antonio Is Calling: Why Alliance 2027 Should Be on Your Calendar!

Written By: Crystal Hotchkiss (Alliance Program Chair) &
Ashley Hanson (Alliance Sr. Program Assistant)

There’s something special about Alliance.  It’s the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues you’ve met over the years, the excitement of learning something new, and those unexpected hallway conversations that turn into solutions you bring back to your institution. Whatever brings you to Alliance 2027 one thing is certain: you’ll leave with new insights, meaningful connections, and experiences that stay with you long after the conference ends.

Alliance is about so much more than a few days of attending sessions. It’s a chance to spend time with people who truly understand the work you do every day. Whether you’re tackling a challenging project, exploring new technology, searching for ways to improve processes, or simply curious how other institutions handle similar situations, Alliance brings together a community that genuinely wants to help one another succeed. Often, the most meaningful takeaway isn’t something you hear during a presentation. It’s the conversation over lunch, the connection you make at a Stop & Share, or that moment when you realize someone else has already navigated the same challenge you’re facing and is willing to share what they learned. That spirit of connection and collaboration is what makes the HEUG community unlike any other.

Behind the scenes, our Program Team, Task Force members, and Communities of Practice have been hard at work reviewing proposals and helping shape the educational experience for Alliance 2027. It’s exciting to see the expertise and innovative thinking that members of our community are willing to share. From practical solutions and lessons learned to emerging technologies and creative approaches, we’re working to bring together a program that offers something for everyone. Whether this will be your first Alliance or you’ve attended for years, our hope is that you’ll leave with fresh ideas, valuable connections, and renewed excitement for the work you do.

Of course, we can’t talk about Alliance 2027 without getting excited about our destination! San Antonio offers a wonderful setting to connect with colleagues while enjoying everything the city has to offer. From the beautiful River Walk, right outside the conference halls to the incredible food and vibrant atmosphere, there’s plenty to look forward to beyond the conference sessions. We hope you’ll take some time to experience the city, reconnect with old friends, and make a few new ones along the way. We’re also looking forward to our “Denim & Diamonds” Closing Celebration, where conference attire gives way to a little western charm and a lot of sparkle. It’s the perfect chance to unwind, celebrate, and make a few more memories before heading home.

Alliance is an investment in yourself, your professional growth, and the institution you represent. It’s an opportunity to step away from your everyday responsibilities, gain new perspectives, and return home with practical takeaways you can put into action right away.  As we continue preparing for Alliance 2027, we’re looking forward to welcoming our community to San Antonio.

Mark your calendar! Registration and housing officially open November 4, 2026. We hope you’ll make plans to join us March 7 to 10, 2027. We can’t wait to see you there!
